As part of the School Development Plan, which is a three year action plan that covers all aspects of school life, we will be developing provision to support the children’s experiences through play at lunchtime. A company called PlayPod Scrapstore have completed an audit of the school grounds and presented the school with a proposal for how the school can develop the outside environment- which can be viewed on the school website - School Info tab and then Play. The school has considered the recommendations and put together a three year time line for developments. The plans are ambitious and the extent of the developments will be dependent on funding that can be raised and the help and support of volunteers.
I am delighted that we currently proceeding with the first phase of the developments as the SSA have supported the funding of the Playpod Scrapstore donating a significant £10,000! Parents may already be familiar with Playpods as a number of other schools in Spelthorne already have them. For those interested in finding out more, information about Playpods can be found on the following website:
or to see it in action the following clip can be viewed:
The children will be consulted during the various stages of the playground developments through the school council and updates will provided to parents via the newsletters.
